Smaller shaker sturgeon are usually caught throughout the day but it is not uncommon for the majority of your catch to be oversize fish during a trip within peak oversize season. Sturgeon fishing is open year round for catch and release with retention of “Keeper” sturgeon (43-54 inches long) available from January 1st through July 31st. Tri-City Guide Service offers your choice of the Mid-Columbia River or Scenic Hanford Reach stretch of the Columbia, both sections have thriving populations of sturgeon so stretch those arms out and be ready for battle! Peak oversize season is June through Oct. and it is recommended to book well in advance for best availability. Don’t forget to ask about sturgeon/walleye combo trips to double your fun!

Warning: Sturgeon fishing can be addictive! Once you’ve experienced the screaming 100+ yard runs and tail walking jumps of an oversize sturgeon there is no other fight in North America that can compare. Sturgeon are very strong fish that require heavy saltwater rods and reels loaded with 100lb test line, fighting belts are supplied and anyone who is not up for a strenuous physical battle between man and fish may need assistance which Capt. Chris will happily provide. All age groups even handicap anglers can be accommodated to an extent with Tri-City Guide Service but it is recommended that you have a least 2 physically strong anglers in the boat on all sturgeon trips.
